How does the pain Neuroscience Education work?
Your physical therapist will start by listening to you, striving to truly understand your pain journey and not pass judgement. We understand that everybody’s pain journey is unique and that we cannot help you until we truly understand you. Our therapists have studied the current and best scientific evidence on how pain actually works in our bodies. We are able to explain pain in a simplified but effective way helping you understand the hows and whys of pain and your own pain experience using metaphors and pictures. We also use virtual reality to help explain pain. Once an understanding of pain is developed with each patient we help identify the best strategies and treatments to help reduce and eliminate your pain.
I’ve tried physical therapy before and it didn’t work to change my pain, how is this approach different?
Most of the patients we see in our chronic pain program have tried many different medical treatments and often seen many different types of medical providers, often without seeing a notable decrease in their pain.
